• Prof. Bruce T. Holl joined the Trinity University faculty as assistant professor of Russian in 1991 and was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 1997. In 2015 he became chair of the department. Holl received the Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation, "Don Quixote and the Russian Novel: A Comparative Analysis," traced the influence of Cervantes' "Don Quixote" on novels of Aleksandr Pushkin, Nikolai Gogol, Fedor Dostoevskii, Ivan Turgenev, Andrei Platonov, and Fedor Sologub.

    His publications include articles on The Archpriest Avvakum, Nikolai Gogol, Fedor Sologub, and Marina Tsvetaeva. The subject of his current research is Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). His papers on the subject include "Recent American Developments in Content and Language Integration," "Russian Across the Curriculum: Models and Implementation," and "Current Issues in the Teaching of Russian Across the Curriculum". He is the editor and author of Russian Notes, an online compendium of news and commentary on Russia, and Languages Across the Curriculum, a blog for language teachers.

    Holl served on the Trinity University Faculty Senate for 8 years. In 2012 he was a member of the committee that created the Pathways Curriculum. He has been a member and active participant in Trinity's Languages Across the Curriculum program since its inception and is currently a member of the Culture and Languages Across the Curriculum committee. 

    In the community Holl recently appeared at the McNay Art Museum with Corey Flintoff, long-time Moscow bureau chief for National Public Radio, to discuss events in contemporary Russia.
